This talk will be focused on the spatial study of crime and society by introducing spatial theory, methodology, technology, data and online tools for understanding the social dynamics of our ecosystem. It will discuss a general framework for spatial crime based on the ecological systems theory. It will introduce some newly developed spatial data explorers (Spatial Explorer of Crime, Spatial Explorer of Religion, China Geo-Explorer, and US Geo-Explorer). It will demonstrate how space-time data of different formats and sources from Census, business, and Internet data can be integrated, visualized, analyzed and reported in a web based system for the spatial study of crime and society.
